Having relocated to north Midland in 2012, Midland Bible Church’s growth has mirrored that of the city Midland. It has been exponential. North Midland being a hotbed for young families, has also created a huge opportunity to reach youth. Halo was tasked to create a new youth building that would not only take architectural elements from the existing worship building but would provide an environment where the youth can grow in community and their walk.
The design of the new youth building pulls the distinct design of the sawtooth roof into a roof above the front patio along with the large glass walls that let in as much natural light as possible. Walking through the front door you enter into the large youth hangout space with the coffee area to your left and open space in front of you for fellowship. Throughout the hangout space, there are pockets of more intimate spaces that allow for more in-depth conversations while still feeling part of the space. In addition to the large youth space, there are two vertical lift doors that open up to the side porch and allows for indoor and outdoor space to be blended. Directly across from the vertical lift doors, is a sliding glass door that leads into the worship space designed with the youth in mind. Directly off of the worship space are two classrooms for breakout space after worship and overflow teaching space for the main worship building. The new youth building at Midland Bible Church will be a place for the youth of Midland to enjoy fellowship with others and grow in their faith.
